PAINT FOR COMFORT

The fastest and least expensive way to change your environment is with paint. Pay close attention to your color selection. Certain colors can effect the occupants. For instance, colors like yellow or brown give a sense of warmth and comfort, great for dining areas.

Not sure what color you like, check design and home interior magazines for inspiration. Save pages to create an inspiration folder. Soon your space will start to take shape.

TIP: OOPS Paint can sometimes be a bargain at home improvement stores. OOPS paint is paint that has been returned by the consumer that was not right for some reason, their mistake your bargain for as little as $5.00 per gallon. Check often, you might get lucky!!!!

DISCOVER LOCAL TREASURES

Make an appointment on your calendar to discover the local treasures in your area. This can include the consignment shop where items from one owner have been placed in the care of the shop owner to find a new purpose and home. Simple changes can transform a boring lamp and shade into a beautiful work of art. Change the shade with fabric, trim or a beautiful wrapping paper.

Items that are slightly blemished can be repainted, repaired and reused. Simple fixes to small problems can be found by searching on the Internet or finding your inner ability to fix and repair. Desire is a powerful too.

Look for sales or remnants at the local fabric and upholstery stores. Very expensive fabric is sold for minimal costs due to the fact that smaller remnants are deemed undesirable to upholsterers. Their loss is your gain. These small pieces make beautiful pillows, small throws for your favorite chair or accents on the end of your bed.

That beautiful slightly used frame in Second Hand stores can easily increase the visual value of a favorite piece of art.

Explore - that is the best part of the design process!
